In Montana, we have a strong commitment to preserving the natural beauty of our state and integrating our connection to the land in our livelihoods. We all believe in the campsite rule – keeping a place they way we found it.
Sen. Jon Tester’s Forest Jobs and Recreation Act will help us keep our forests intact, accessible, and profitable for future generations of Montanans.
Tester’s bill reflects input from timber mills, conservationists and recreationists, among others. It provides for expansion of local economies and creation of Montana jobs while safeguarding the natural resources and wild areas that make Montana spectacular.
Additionally, I am excited that Sen. Max Baucus has added his support to the bill, and the volume of citizen co-sponsors here in Montana illustrates how important this is.
Now, I encourage Rep. Denny Rehberg to join Tester and Baucus to show that when it comes to protecting the natural resources and heritage of our state, the Montana delegation stands together. As Montanans, we all care about the treasures and resources of our state, and we know our elected officials do as well.
