I sat in on two small meetings where Senator Tester’s “Forest, Jobs and Recreation Act” was reviewed and discussed. No one was quite satisfied with it because it was a compromise bill worked out with environmentalists, scientists, and included the timber industry.
In fact, Tester’s forest jobs act could serve as a good example of hard-working compromise and is the only forest bill in several decades that has even been potentially passable. It is an example of how Republicans and Democrats in Congress could and should work together to accomplish something for our nation. It is a genuine work model for a divided and partisan Congress, and it should be passed.
The fact that Rehberg is entirely opposed to a compromise bill only for political reasons is just one more example of his thoughtless party obstructionism. He has fit perfectly into the obstructionist do-nothing U. S. House of Representatives which has served only special interests. He should never be elected to the U.S. Senate!
We need to reelect Senator Tester because he actually knows how to work together with broad interests for the common good.
