As one of the many thousands of Montanans who recreate on our public lands, I would like to thank Sen. Tester for his new bill. Tester’s bill focuses on creating jobs in the timber industry and forest restoration projects. The bill also includes several areas that are managed for specific uses.
As various types of recreation become more and more popular on Montana’s public lands, management of these lands becomes more complicated. I applaud Senator Tester for working hard to make sure that the interests of each of these groups — ATV users, snowmobilers, mountain bikers, backcountry horsemen and women, and hikers — are represented.
I see Sen. Tester’s new bill as more than just a jobs bill, a forest restoration bill, an outdoor heritage bill. I see this bill as a way for Montanans to work together and look at forest management as a collaborative process. Thank you Senator. I appreciate your wherewithal to work with Montanans on this tough issue.
